Working with Bill at such an impressionable age taught me so much about the commercial art world. It's impossible to quantify how much I learned from working with Bill everyday. Watching him effortlessly knock out cartoons and listen to stories about working on Ren & Stimpy. The way I hand print letters today is 100% influenced by Bill White.

I'd be happy to help curate a book of his work if it would be appropriate. I still have a caricature of myself that Bill gave me when I graduated from high school along with a giant portfolio case that I still use. Whether it is printed through a publisher or made available through Blurb, I'd be willing to lay the book out for press and all funds could go to his family. Knowing how much Bill produced, I'm sure the book could be 3000 pages. :)Matt Collinshttp://dribbble.com/matt_kicksnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7090354177947958136.post-68210855411803520672013-01-16T22:58:29.628-05:002013-01-16T22:58:29.628-05:00It seems to me that Bill had a lot of sincere frie...It seems to me that Bill had a lot of sincere friends who really appreciated him. But I should have realized how much he meant to me when I came to visit that time when you guys were at Front St., literally decades after last seeing him. Only wish that I could have dropped by to visit more often all those times I drove by your home to and from work, but I wouldn't have wanted to disturb him if he was having a bad day. Wish I could have gone to more of your shows in Cohassett, but he always seemed embarassed when I did. Just couldn't convince him how much fun it was for me to watch you guys perform (like HE could ever give a bad performance!). Everything I ever learned about being humorous and funny or being analytical or critical about entertainment in general, I now know I learned from him. Guess I'll have to save all my antedotes and stories for when I see him again on the other side. Til then it just won't be the same knowing he's not a phone call away anymore. Love ya, Kid. Always have, always will.MikeHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16241154662053522843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7090354177947958136.post-91418184154792082742012-10-31T00:04:07.833-04:002012-10-31T00:04:07.833-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.MikeHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16241154662053522843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7090354177947958136.post-23093767259936125732012-10-31T00:01:44.494-04:002012-10-31T00:01:44.494-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.MikeHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16241154662053522843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7090354177947958136.post-10040964428882019292012-10-30T22:17:47.094-04:002012-10-30T22:17:47.094-04:00I am a 2005 graduate of the Building #19 Cartoonin...I am a 2005 graduate of the Building #19 Cartooning School. When I signed up, I had no idea how far Hingham was from Beverly, MA. Basically, I was going from the North Shore to the South Shore. How hard could that be, I thought. Two hours of traffic later I realized. However, it was worth every minute in traffic. Bill and Matt Brown were a perfect pair. I loved the way Bill got some good digs in before Matt could defend himself. Yet their personalities and styles meshed to make it one of my most memorable classes In fact, I attempted a post-graduate course. Their ads for Bld. #19 are legendary; their humor was mercifully as un-PC as it gets. What a unique, humorous and smart guy Bill was. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts go out to his family. Bill was, hands down, THE funniest human being I have ever met and a wonderful combination of kind soul and biting wit. He will be missed greatly. I first met him at the very beginning of my caricature career 23 years ago, he was a heroic figure to me and an inspiration to me as the new kid, i felt honored to be in the same field as him! Years later having him in easy reach again across the drawing table at building #19 was a bright spot in my life.
